The Tortoise and The Leopard

While I’m definitely 100% okay with leaving winter behind, I am a little upset about leaving this skirt behind.  The suede trend has been one of my favorites this year, and this skirt always makes me feel like a million bucks when I wear it.  Especially with tights.  There’s just something about putting that extra effort in to wear tights that just totally elevates an outfit to the next level, especially when everyone around you is hiding behind jeans and boots.  Or at least that’s what I’ll tell myself every time I curse the cold wind blowing straight through them.

First Florals

IMG_1164 IMG_1149

There may not be flowers sprouting from the earth quite yet, at least in Massachusetts, but I am more than ready to start incorporating them into my wardrobe!  My sister and I both have this Cynthia Rowley skirt (twinning on Instagram here) and our different styles are a perfect example of the versatility of florals.  I wore it with a navy sleeveless blouse over the summer, which unfortunately was one of the shoots I lost when my computer crashed, so I wanted to try it with this bright pink sweater from Banana Republic.  In a mild attempt to mellow myself out (since technically it is still winter), I made sure to add a plethora of navy in to the ensemble to properly winterize the look.

New Hues

IMG_1203IMG_1197

As promised, today I’m styling my first pair of glasses from Warby Parker’s Spring Collection!  These frames totally speak for themselves and I love the statement they make while the Oak color can be paired with just about anything, making them extremely versatile.  Sometimes I find my statement making accessories are hard to incorporate into every day wear, but that is definitely not the case with these specs!  I already have approximately 17,621 outfits in my head I want to wear them with.  All of which will undoubtedly vanish at 5 o’clock on Monday morning when I need them, but alas.  You win some, you lose some.

Blush and olive were never colors I wore much of in the past, but I have suddenly found myself embracing their versatility and hoarding them in large amounts.  I especially love them paired together with the tortoise shell print of these glasses.  As someone who gravitates towards black frames all too easily, the subtle pattern adds some fun dimension to an otherwise neutral look.

February Blues

IMG_0991IMG_0989

I shot these photos last weekend before we had eight inches of snow dumped onto the ground, with another 6-10 on the way today!  It was nice having such a mild winter for a while, but I won’t complain about the opportunity to finally go skiing or the beautiful snow covered trees. I was loving embracing lighter layers in traditional winter colors like these shades of black and blue.  LOFT makes some of my absolute favorite tops.  I find myself gravitating towards solid pieces that have elegant details and can be matched with patterned pieces while still making a statement of their own, and LOFT constantly delivers in these categories.  This necklace from Banana Republic is a few years old, but it’s one of my favorite pieces to add some color and glamour to any ensemble!

Tweed

Tweed | The Sol CompassIMG_0964IMG_0962IMG_0973IMG_0977IMG_0943

We’ve been so lucky in Massachusetts this winter, with plenty of relatively warm days that allow for tights and heels in January!  If you follow me on Instagram, you may recognize this skirt from my Thanksgiving ensemble, and interestingly enough it’s almost an exact inverse of the Banana Republic skirt that I wore to Thanksgiving last year.  There are so many ways I love wearing this skirt, and this tweed on tweed combo has been perfect for January so far.  You may or may not be aware that LOFT has added Horoscopes to their website within the past year, and this tweed blazer from my Stylescope was a dead ringer for what my wardrobe needed this month!  I can’t wait to pair it with jeans for an off-duty weekend look.

Thanksgiving 2.0

IMG_9853IMG_9833IMG_9885

Bringing back the perfect November sweater (last seen here) for some last minute Thanksgiving outfit inspiration today!  My style will always take root in preppy New England styles, and this outfit is no exception.  Layering and tights are some of my reliables for problematic late fall dressing, and I absolutely adore this palette for Thanksgiving!
