Happy Friday everyone!  I can’t believe it’s already the 22nd!  The next week for me is going to be so busy but so full and I can’t wait to spend some quality time relaxing with all of my families!  As I do every year, I’m going to take next week off from blogging.  I love coming back refreshed in the New Year, and am looking forward to taking advantage of that time to reconnect with some of my favorite people.  Make sure to follow along on Instagram, though!

This cozy sweater from Old Navy was a bit of an impulse buy for me, since I have been loving long cardigans so much these past few months.  I grabbed it straight out of the shipping box on a late fall day for a drive to the ocean with B (seen in this Instagram), and that day I completely fell in love with it.  I paired it with my Converse for some beach time, and lately I’ve been wearing it while working from home at least once per week.  For Christmastide, I knew I would want to dress it up a bit, so I paired it with these fantastic leopard booties.  I love how they make the outfit look intentional and put together, while I get to stay comfortable in this sweater!

Festive Flair

IMG_5430IMG_5473IMG_5421IMG_5441IMG_5423IMG_5481

Hey everyone, happy Monday!  I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving Weekend!  In case you missed it, I launched the first set of my gift guides on Saturday, and also wrote about the perfect holiday gift I found for B here!

Today, since the holiday season is in full swing, I wanted to incorporate small amounts of festive flair without feeling overwhelmed by it (since I can hardly believe November is almost over!)  The bright green of the sweater and the bow detail on the back make it perfect for a slow embrace of the Christmas spirit!

Shoutout to Mom

img_8343img_8367

This outfit is what I like to call “channelling my mother 101”.  When I was younger my mom always wore red and black together and she always looked put together, but red and black was always one of her go to color combinations.  I vividly remember a friend’s mom picking me up from my house one day while my mom was playing basketball in the driveway with my younger brother.  She was rocking red jeans and a leather jacket and still managing to run after my Energizer Bunny of a brother.  The aforementioned friend’s mom told me that my mom always looked stylish no matter what she was doing, and I promptly saved this story in my head right next to the time she wouldn’t let me wear pajamas to school.

When I saw this bright red sweater at Banana Republic, I instantly fell in love with it.  With no sparkles or embellishments, it transitions well past the holiday season, through Valentine’s Day and even beyond.  The first time I went to wear it, I opened my denim drawer and was instantly drawn to classic black skinny jeans.  Finally, I slid my feet into these booties, which have a perfect pointy toe to add some style to a monochrome look.  When I looked at the finished product I couldn’t help but chuckle because I looked exactly like my mother.

Winter Sky Blue

img_8276img_8278img_8295

The color of this sweater is a perfect combination of a clear blue winter sky and freshly fallen snow.  So naturally I had to pair it with the darkest color imaginable.  I will probably never give up incorporating contrasting elements in my outfits.  I think the black helps the light blue pop much more than a traditional blue jean would; just as the snow pops effortlessly against the elements of nature.

Decking The Halls

Happy Monday!  Today’s post is just a quick one with a look at my outfit to decorate the Christmas tree.  I loved the idea of dressing myself in “tinsel”, but I wanted to make sure I kept the look anchored in classic styles so I didn’t give my mom a panic attack at what kind of life choices I was making when I showed up to decorate the tree in actual tinsel.

Cozy in Camel

img_6435 img_6456

You guys might recognize this sweater from last year; I had it one repeat in real life and featured it on the blog here.  This is definitely my favorite turtleneck I own.  It somehow manages to keep my neck warm while still being much more fitted and slim than other turtlenecks tend to be.  I love it so much that I broke it out a little early this year to pair with my new favorite heels, and will probably go back in for another color this year!

Are there any items on your Black Friday shopping lists I need to scoop up for the winter?  Let me know in the comments below!

Fall With J.Crew

img_5452img_5383img_5330

J.Crew has been knocking it out of the park this season.  Every time I look online or stop in one of the stores I find myself swooning over all sorts of classic reliables and new pieces.  Luckily now that J.Crew is being sold at Nordstrom in addition to the J.Crew and J.Crew Factory lines, I have three options to find my favorite brand.

Fall Blues

img_5552img_5530

Despite being fashion’s favorite season, and indisputably the prettiest, fall always gives me a small case of the blues.  While I love fall as much as the next person, it’s always sad to say goodbye to summer adventures, wearing skirts and dresses; especially knowing that the dreadful cold and snow of winter is just around the corner.  One of my favorite coping methods last week was taking one of my favorite summer items (a skirt) and pairing it with my must have winter items (a sweater) to make a perfect fall ensemble.

Sweater Expert

IMG_0622IMG_0607IMG_0611

I know there is technically no official title of ‘Sweater Expert’, but if there were I would definitely be in contention for that crown.  I have tried sweaters from all over- online shops, brick and mortar stores; high end and low end- searching for the ones that will get me through the miserably cold New England winter.  After such an elaborate search over the past few years, I can say with complete confidence that GAP Inc. brands make my favorite and most reliable sweaters across the board- I know that I can walk into an Old Navy, GAP, or Banana Republic store and be 100% satisfied with their sweater selection at any given time.  I recently wore some of my favorites on the blog here and here!  When I walked into Banana Republic and saw these turtlenecks displayed on the front table, the only question I had was which color to buy it in.  Orange, my favorite color, ultimately won out- but it was definitely a close race!

Thanksgiving 2.0

IMG_9853IMG_9833IMG_9885

Bringing back the perfect November sweater (last seen here) for some last minute Thanksgiving outfit inspiration today!  My style will always take root in preppy New England styles, and this outfit is no exception.  Layering and tights are some of my reliables for problematic late fall dressing, and I absolutely adore this palette for Thanksgiving!
