Target Style

IMG_1836

I love when someone asks where I got something and I can blurt out “Target!” with enthusiasm, as if I’ve been holding it in all day.  I go to Target for pretty much everything (including fun), so I love when I can get some clothing shopping done there as well!

Faribault Woolen Mill Company (like Target, an amazing company originated in Minnesota) has an amazing collaboration with Target going on right now that you absolutely must check out!  They have scarvesbagsthrows, and more!  Since Target is awesome, they are offering free shipping through the holidays!  Happy Shopping!

Comfort Season

Whoever decided to make something as cozy as a poncho chic is officially my new hero.  My TOMS for Target poncho just came in the mail this past week and it has been my best friend during this chilly and relaxing weekend.  I love layering a collared shirt underneath to keep my outfit polished while feeling like I’m wrapped in a blanket all day long!

Much of the TOMS for Target collection has already sold out, but you can view the full collection here and make sure to check your local Target store to see what they have left!  The collection also makes some amazing gifts, I especially love the throw blanket, candle, and frame for gifts that will delight just about everyone!  Gifts that give back are the best way to spread our good fortune to others this holiday season.  Follow along with my Pinterest board to see gift ideas all season long!

All Dressed Up

Being the main event of Thanksgiving week, family dinner always causes the most outfit stress.  Luckily, I found this amazing Banana Republic skirt almost three months ago during BTS and I knew it would be absolutely perfect for Thanksgiving with my family.  Tights and heels are some of my favorite wardrobe staples, so any excuse to break them out is a good day in my book!

I love incorporating more than one fall hue into an outfit, and this skirt is the perfect neutralizer for the navy and burgundy shades.  I have been holding off on actually wearing it until Thanksgiving, but I can’t wait to see what else I can style it with once the holiday is over.

Friendsgiving Outfit

IMG_1574I believe it is equally as important to spend time celebrating your valued friendships as it is being thankful for your family around the holidays.  Sometimes friends wind up being your closer family than your blood relatives, and there is an amazing feeling knowing that they picked you, and weren’t just stuck with you!

My friend-family grew up in the perfect FRIENDS era, so naturally Friendsgiving is a must every year.  I try to go with a casual, but put together look which fits in perfectly with our group’s ambiance.  In my opinion, you can never go wrong with jeans and a blazer to try to balance that line.  I love the current animal sweater craze, but adding a blazer adds just the right amount of sophistication for a sit-down dinner.  I have a huge weakness for elbow patches, so I am beyond excited to wear this outfit to celebrate my amazing friendships.

Home for the Holidays

IMG_1741

This week I’m excited to be sharing all of my Thanksgiving week outfits!  With lots of downtime for catching up with the family I don’t see very often, I definitely plan on lots of comfortable sweaters making an appearance next week!

Big and cozy Fair Isle sweaters are all I ever want to wear on chilly weekends, and Thanksgiving is the perfect time to start!  I am so excited to bring out my favorites again this year.  I like to belt this cardigan together for extra warmth and a more polished look.

Fun shopping story: I saw this belt in a window display and loved it so much that I had to ask the sales associate to take it off of the mannequin for me! Now I find myself wearing it virtually nonstop all year long.

Sweater Weather

IMG_1505During the winter months, I rarely stray from my sweater-jeans-boots uniform (primarily for warmth and comfort reasons), so I’m always looking for ways I can spice up that every day ritual.

Enter these amazing Old Navy booties.  I absolutely adore burgundy in the fall and all throughout the winter, and these are comfortable enough to walk around in all day. They are also super affordable, which makes me even more in love with them if possible. The LOFT sweater is soft and comfortable, and I love how the leopard print adds an element of fun to the outfit without being too overbearing.  This is the perfect ensemble for a playful Saturday afternoon of exploring. A Beacon (Hill) of Hope

IMG_2188The elegant neighborhood of Beacon Hill is one of my favorite neighborhoods in Boston.  The gas lamps, cobblestone streets, and red brick sidewalks make up the most quintessential historic Boston image in the most charming way possible.  This quaint and picturesque “Old Boston” neighborhood can only be enhanced by fall’s vibrant foliage, and made for such a fun shoot location.

My favorite neighborhood deserved nothing less than a few of my favorite wardrobe pieces, including colored skinny jeans, heeled booties, a clutch, and, of course, plenty of sparkle.

Free Fall-ing

IMG_1029

An autumn afternoon spent apple picking is always at the top of everyone’s To-Do list when October rolls around.  With the unseasonably warm climate, all I needed for a fun day of hiking and apple picking was my ever-versatile quilted vest thrown over a reliable flannel (nothing says fall in New England quite like a plaid flannel!) These Aerosoles boots are hands down the most comfortable pair of boots I own.  They come equipped with standard Aerosoles technology; including cushioned insoles, breathable lining, and an expandable calf fit!  They are an absolute necessity for me on any fall adventure that requires a bit of extra walking or uneven terrain.  Later this week expect to see some recipes I made from the abundance of apples I gathered today!

Fall Layers

“Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall” F. Scott Fitzgerald

IMG_0563

In traditional “back to school” mindset, everything starts over in the fall.  Now that it feels like autumn is finally here, I can finally start to break out all of the layers I have been waiting to wear for months now.

A quilted vest is definitely one of my staples for New England autumns.  I love how it can add an extra layer of warmth while simultaneously showing off the layer underneath in a way a jacket cannot.  For my fun and playful weekend look, I kept the colors simple and consistent throughout by staying with my sweater’s theme of navy and green throughout.  I added these bold green earrings and simple navy wrap bracelet along with the navy vest to tie everything together in the cool color scheme.  The thick heel on these booties is perfect because it adds a heel without sacrificing comfort or walkability.  I love how this bag connects with both the brown watch and shoes as well as the navy in the top layers, I feel it ties up the outfit together nicely but still keeps it casual for a day of fun fall activities!  Anyone have any fun plans for the weekend?  Would love to hear about them!

Tuesday Shoesday

IMG_0475

Today was a gross and rainy day in New England, but nothing a new pair of shoes couldn’t fix!

One of the main items my fall wardrobe had been missing was a crucial pair of leopard print flats that would serve as both fashionable and functional footwear for running around the city in.  After conducting a thorough internet search I found (and lusted after!) these Steve Madden ones.  But much to my dismay I had a difficult time justifying spending $80 on a pair of flats that I would likely beat up with frequent walks around the city, so I continued my search.

With a brilliant stroke of luck, I happened upon this almost identical pair at American Eagle.  They have the same pointed toe, the same strategic arch opening, and, of course, the leopard print.  The best part was, they were only $30!  The perfect price for an everyday flat.  I was tempted to buy two pairs so that I could have another when I inevitably wear down the first pair, because I don’t think I can beat that deal anywhere else!
