Cobalt Lace

J.Crew is hands down one of my absolute favorite stores, which is probably pretty apparent when reading my outfit details on this blog.  That being said, I cannot help but roll my eyes at some of their prices.  This has made me an absolute master at navigating their sale section and feeling like a sly sneaky little shopper who manages to get items like this gorgeous dress and the skirt from last week’s post at 75% off the original price.

Blush and Orange

IMG_0445IMG_0447

I keep bringing back blush items over and over again this spring, and for someone who has historically never worn a ton of pink it seems rather strange.  Blush is so versatile and just soft enough that it doesn’t overpower the way a cotton candy or a bubble gum pink might. This skirt is such a soft and muted tone that it lets the orange top do all the talking, but I think it would be just as fun of a look with a more saturated pink skirt-who doesn’t love a good burst of color in spring?!

Blush & Olive

Today’s outfit features my two must have colors for spring: blush and olive!  I’m always trying to find just the right balance in my outfits, and the femininity of the blush perfectly offsets the olive green!

I’ve been walking around D.C. this week and desperately hoping that the sunshine will tan up my winter white legs a bit.  The weather has been nothing short of amazing and has completely enhanced my experience.  Everything in the tourist areas is so beautiful and aesthetically pleasing it’s a blogger/photographer’s dream!  Make sure to follow along on Instagram!

Safari

You all would probably laugh if I told you how many shirtdresses I have bought and returned, and how many more I have tried on in stores.  I’ve always loved the idea of them, but for the most part a straight cut shirtdress just does nothing for my figure.  The drop-waist and flounce detail on this one are what finally sealed the deal for me (well, that and the fact that it was on major sale).

Cognac has always been one of my favorite hues and I have always associated it with adventurous tendencies, so combined with spring’s must have olive color they have me daydreaming of African safaris-in much more practical shoes, of course!

Standing Tall

IMG_4198 IMG_4212

The amazing pinstripe pants strike again.  These so happen to combine three of my favorite pant traits into one amazing pair (high waisted, ankle, and colored), so this definitely won’t be the last time you’ll be seeing them around this corner of the interweb. While Mother Nature has certainly been flirting with warmth lately, we still have some cool days among us, not to mention chilly nights that are not at all spring like, so I just layered on this Old Navy blazer I’m certifiably obsessed with.  I love how tall the combination of the vertical stripes and the long blazer makes me seem (though I guess heels that push me over six feet don’t hurt either…)

The New Neutral

IMG_4100 IMG_4102

As I mentioned in Tuesday’s post, I’m totally obsessing over pink this spring.  Some of my favorite pink finds this spring have been these shoes and this bag, because of their soft and versatile blush tone.  Blush is the perfect new neutral, because it goes with absolutely everything.  It can tone an outfit down or add a feminine touch of color like it does here.

Easy Breezy

IMG_4461

Historically, pink has never been seen as the most fashionable color.  As of just last year, I had only three pink items hanging in my closet, making the pretty hue outnumbered by every other color you could imagine.  This season though, all that has begun to change.  Pink is absolutely everywhere, from runways to mall window displays, and I, for one, could not be more excited about it.  I find it all but impossible to be unhappy when I’m wearing a pink shirt out in the sunshine (shoutout to mother nature for the awesome weather this weekend!).  This LOFT blouse is the perfect easy spring blouse- perfect to dress up or dress down with the right accessories.  I love the subtle detailing in the rollup sleeves and chest pocket.  I love how the lightweight fabric is perfect for the middle of the day warmth, and perfect to throw under a denim jacket at night when the temps drop!

Lavender Lace

IMG_4394 IMG_4395

If you follow me on Instagram, you may recognize this outfit as my Easter Sunday ensemble.  Wearing a skirt was actually a tad ambitious, and I only wore it for church and pictures before changing into some more weather-appropriate pants!  The purple was on par for Easter festivities, but it’s also a color I will gladly wear all spring and summer once the weather warms up here.  I love wearing white tops with colored skirts so that I can add even more color into the look with accessories, like I did here!

Pinstripe Play Date

IMG_4239

I hope you all had a lovely Easter Weekend!  I had such a wonderful weekend with my brother, sister, and I all together under the same roof we grew up in.  It’s always nice to have the three of us together, and holidays in particular take me back down memory lane to when we were all young and playful.  Nowadays, our sibling “playdates” entail hours at Target and Chipotle trips rather than playgrounds, but we made a quick exception on Saturday for the perfect background for this playful spring outfit!

When I saw these pants at LOFT, I knew I had to have them.  They reminded me of a candy peddler in the 1900s Atlantic City BoardWalk (more accurately, since I wasn’t alive then, Disney’s BoardWalk Hotel).  They’re playful, whimsical, and elegant all at the same time.  They add a classy retro touch to a fun chambray and playful boat shoes, and are absolutely perfect to wear throughout spring!
