Floral Fall Dress

Hey everyone, happy hump day!  I am absolutely loving floral dresses for the fall, including this one I last wore here.  It looks great with a pair of white sneakers, like I wore in Newbury, nude heels, or some heeled booties like I wore here!  I love how this blush leather jacket pulls out the lighter hues to completely lighten up the whole look.

Transitioning Colors

Happy Friday everyone!  This week was back into the 80s here in Mass, so it felt unnatural to wear the conventional fall colors.  Instead I took the opportunity to embrace lighter colors together in one palette again.  This dreamy jacket from LOFT would be gorgeous over navy or aubergine well into the fall, and makes such a nice contrast to my usual dark leather jackets!

If you missed it, on Wednesday I announced my second giveaway to celebrate The Sol Compass’ third birthday!  I’m giving away a beautiful handmade wooden sunglasses case, so make sure you enter here!

Transition Basics

Hey everyone, happy Friday!  I wore this skirt last Friday here and really can’t recommend it for fall enough.  It comes in six colors here and here, so there are plenty of options!  With it’s heavier fabric, it is the perfect way to keep wearing skirts as the temperatures drop a little bit.  And the price point certainly can’t be beat!

Bridging Seasons

Hey everyone, happy Friday!  Today I want to talk about those times of year that are a bit tricky to dress for: transition months.  My tried and true formula for September is to stick with warm weather basics (skirts, open toe shoes, etc) in autumn appropriate hues. I will hold on to every last bit of summer for as long as I can, but this look was a great way to start incorporating some of my new purchases while staying comfortable during the last days of summer.

Deep Jewel Tones

img_5063 img_5111 img_5097

Before I started this blog, I pretty much exclusively wore bright colors regardless or trends, seasons, or other fashion rules.  As the years have gone by and I started to pay much more attention to trends and protocols, I couldn’t help but notice the special associations seasonal colors have.  This spring I dabbled in a lot of pastels, a way to tone down an outfit without losing any edge or excitement, and this fall it’s been a series of deep jewel tones such as olive, navy, burgundy, and aubergine.  The dark hues are seasonally appropriate, but their rich shades still allow some of that bold expression that I love.
