Holiday Pink

IMG_6157IMG_6196

Hey everyone, happy Monday!  I hope you all had a great weekend!  With all the red and green holiday outfits out there, I wanted to share a fun alternative that’s just as festive.  I love the shine to this pleated skirt, and combined with some long pearls it gives off some pretty Nutcracker vibes, no?

Tropical Textures

Welcome back, loves!  I hope you all had a great weekend.  I’m so excited that the weather is finally consistently warm out that I’ve been celebrating the only way I know how – shopping for new clothes to wear on patios and rooftops, clearly.

This beautiful Banana Republic skirt instantly caught my eye.  I love the length, the pleats, the pattern, and the colors.  I chose to pair it first with a lace top, to add some nice textures to mix up my look.  To make it more work appropriate, just add a pair of closed toe heels and a navy blazer!

What’s Old Is New

IMG_0696.jpg

Happy Friday everyone!  Today I’m sharing a look I wore earlier this week when it felt like summer out!  I was honestly not prepared to dress for the warmth, as many of my 85 degree appropriate clothes are still in storage!  So to improvise, I wore this olive skirt I paired with tights over the winter and this old pink top from Banana Republic.  Add in my new favorite shoes, and these old pieces felt brand new.

Leather Weather

img_5744 img_5681 img_5690

Good morning everyone, happy Friday!  I have been loving black and cobalt lately, this is actually the second combo I’ve worn this week!  The blue really balances out the black, which keeps me from my tendency to wear seasonally inappropriate bright ensembles ;).  If you’re a longtime reader, you know that I am a big fan of leather skirts and have them in all shapes and sizes (pencil, mini, etc).  This midi one just might be my favorite, though.  The length really balances out the edginess of leather, and if there’s one fashion look I love it’s pairing the unexpected together.  Hence, yet another casual tee paired with a formal skirt.  At this rate that’s basically expected of me!

Summer Lights

IMG_2878IMG_2875IMG_2859

The combination of a simple tank and a lightweight flowy skirt is perfect for those unbearably hot summer days.  It can seem so impossible to still look nice when it’s hot and humid outside.  But with a light easy combination like this one, it’s possible to look cool without being too hot.  At night for al fresco drinks, I just have to throw on my favorite denim jacket to warm up and dress my look down.

My sister and I are heading out on a road trip to Saratoga Springs this morning. If you have any recommendations for food or sight seeing stops there or along the way please share them! You can follow along with our shenanigans and ultimate road trip playlist on snapchat @chummer17!

Blush Pleats

IMG_0367IMG_0336IMG_0357

This striped shirt from French Connection is about three years old, and yet I cannot seem to stop wearing it this spring.  I love when I have the chance to re-fall in love with some of my favorite pieces after years of wear.  Stripes are always in fashion and I guess the navy and white combo has been really fitting in to my new repertoire of pinks and patterns alike this season.

We took these pictures outside of the beautiful (and recently renovated) Beverly Public Library.  Libraries are definitely one of my happy places, and reading is one of my fundamental core values.  Anytime I travel, the local library is always at the top of my “To See” list (including the Library of Congress, Huntington Library, and Openbare Bibliotheek Amsterdam).  Seeing libraries receive the proper architectural attention that they deserve just makes my heart sing.

Blush and Orange

IMG_0445IMG_0447

I keep bringing back blush items over and over again this spring, and for someone who has historically never worn a ton of pink it seems rather strange.  Blush is so versatile and just soft enough that it doesn’t overpower the way a cotton candy or a bubble gum pink might. This skirt is such a soft and muted tone that it lets the orange top do all the talking, but I think it would be just as fun of a look with a more saturated pink skirt-who doesn’t love a good burst of color in spring?!

Aquamarine

IMG_9725IMG_9680IMG_9727

Happy Friday! I’m so excited for this weekend.  My sister and I are going to South Boston’s Saint Patrick’s Day Parade on Sunday, followed by the Hoodie Allen concert at the House of Blues, and it looks like we’ll have another bout of sunshine!

Almost as awesome as a sunny Saturday is this gorgeous skirt from The Limited.  Between their versatile and professional clothing, awesome sales, and free two day shipping from ShopRunner, I always find myself filling in my wardrobe with Limited pieces.  This skirt is gorgeous for pretty much anything, but I particularly had Easter in mind when I picked it up.  I love a good dress, but I definitely prefer skirts.  There’s so many more options to style a skirt different, that it feels like a building block for future outfits rather than just an outfit on its own-which is why I have so many skirts on constant rotation in my closet.  This aquamarine color goes great with other cool tones, or a bright coral necklace and blush heels like I wore here-the magic of a good skirt is always in its versatility!  I actually wore a skirt from The Limited for Easter last year with this same necklace in this post and it was absolutely perfect (similar purple skirt here and lace skirt here).

Anchors Aweigh

Happy Hump Day! New England keeps throwing these amazingly sunny days our way and I have jumped at the occasion to wear all of my skirts again-despite the fact that my legs are still a gross shade of winter white.  Hopefully tanner days are coming.  Until then I’ll just be over here in my anchor sweater and anchor necklace day dreaming about sailing days.  Too soon?

New Hues

IMG_1203IMG_1197

As promised, today I’m styling my first pair of glasses from Warby Parker’s Spring Collection!  These frames totally speak for themselves and I love the statement they make while the Oak color can be paired with just about anything, making them extremely versatile.  Sometimes I find my statement making accessories are hard to incorporate into every day wear, but that is definitely not the case with these specs!  I already have approximately 17,621 outfits in my head I want to wear them with.  All of which will undoubtedly vanish at 5 o’clock on Monday morning when I need them, but alas.  You win some, you lose some.

Blush and olive were never colors I wore much of in the past, but I have suddenly found myself embracing their versatility and hoarding them in large amounts.  I especially love them paired together with the tortoise shell print of these glasses.  As someone who gravitates towards black frames all too easily, the subtle pattern adds some fun dimension to an otherwise neutral look.
