Bridging Seasons

Hey everyone, happy Friday!  Today I want to talk about those times of year that are a bit tricky to dress for: transition months.  My tried and true formula for September is to stick with warm weather basics (skirts, open toe shoes, etc) in autumn appropriate hues. I will hold on to every last bit of summer for as long as I can, but this look was a great way to start incorporating some of my new purchases while staying comfortable during the last days of summer.

Outfit Details – Tee: Banana Republic | Jacket: White House Black Market (old, similar here and here) | Skirt: JPR (more colors here!) | Heels: Banana Republic |

Fall Obsessions

img_6581img_6518img_6569img_6608img_6583img_6590img_6562

Hey guys!  Welcome back.  It has been a hot second since I posted around here, but I’m so happy to be back with lots of content for you.  Today’s look combines several of my favorite fall pieces.  This hat and heels have been great in all of fall’s varying weather.

I picked up this backpack for my trips and it has been everything I wanted it to be and more.  It’s big enough to fit a surprising amount in it but it isn’t too bulky and adds a perfect touch of fashion to a functional style.

A white blouse is my favorite way to look clean when I maybe don’t feel the same way.  After a long day of taking a bus to meet my mom in Manhattan and then driving down to Philadelphia, I only had ten minutes to freshen myself up before heading to a concert.  I paired this white blouse with Chelsea boots and skinny jeans to make myself look a lot nicer than the day of travel had me feeling!

I happily wear red, white, and blue year round but today I’m going to throw it back to a few of my favorite summer combos! While most of the items are no longer available, these outfits can easily be recreated with items you probable already have! Most of these are subtle ways to dress festively without going over the top, perfect for a barbecue or boat cruise!

Respect the Locals

I fell for this adorable turtle t-shirt the second I saw it on the GAP website.  Unfortunately it looks like everyone else did too; it has since sold out from when I took these pictures.  The darling tee shop is perfect for easy beach outfits, tops for a walk in the park, and other casual summer endeavors; starting as low as $15!

This Goddess dress from Banana Republic is so true to its name.  Its easy and breezy but still has that elusive Ancient Greek glamour to it.  With some simple gold accessories, it’s the perfect item to glam up a weekend farmer’s market trip with my favorite straw tote and some comfortable embellished sandals!

I usually gravitate towards fit and flare and sheath dresses.  Lately I’ve been flirting with the drop waist dress (last seen here, I’m also loving this one) to spice up my wardrobe, and I’ve been quite thrilled with them!  I love this bright pink color and the waist is such a nice change with what I usually wear!

Navy Lace

I wear navy like most people wear black, and this is especially true in the summer.  When I want to rock a coral heel or an orange clutch, navy makes the accessories pop a little bit extra.  I love that I can always count on Banana Republic for classic pieces like this dress that can work for all different occasions with a simple swap of accessories

J.Crew is hands down one of my absolute favorite stores, which is probably pretty apparent when reading my outfit details on this blog.  That being said, I cannot help but roll my eyes at some of their prices.  This has made me an absolute master at navigating their sale section and feeling like a sly sneaky little shopper who manages to get items like this gorgeous dress and the skirt from last week’s post at 75% off the original price.

Light & Bright

IMG_0289IMG_0258IMG_0292

At the first sign of warm weather I dove headfirst into skirts and dresses; forgetting that early spring generally just means jeans and a top without a jacket.  Mother Nature was sure to remind me how overanxious I had been this past weekend, bringing the temps way back down away from the low seventies I had been enjoying so much a few weeks ago (sad face).  My coping method has been to keep the jeans and sweaters going strong but incorporating more seasonally appropriate colors like this blush and white combo.  Nothing is as good a mood booster as a light and bright outfit on a sunny (albeit chilly) day.

Le Rogue et El Noir

Besides being one of my very favorite 19th century novels, red and black also make for a classic and fail-safe holiday combination.  I love incorporating them into my every day wardrobe during the month of December to keep the spirit alive- especially since any day has the possibility of turning into a festive celebration after work!  As someone who loves remixing and rewearing clothes, I’m not a huge advocate of buying a red sequined dress you’ll wear to one holiday party and then never again (at least for another twelve months).  Instead I opt for the classic combination of red and black, which flows seamlessly from work to happy hour and is seasonally appropriate with just a touch of gold accents (or a decadent amount of gold accents, if that’s your thing).  These are two of my favorite black and red outfits, with pieces I’ve worn plenty before and I know without hesitation I will wear again.
