Breaking Plaid

To file under “shows B is still trying to convince me to watch”: Breaking Bad.  Plaid, on the other hand, is something we can both agree on.  When we first started dating, B exclusively wore flannels and jeans on the weekends, and his car even has plaid seats.  Needless to say, I think B was born for fall.

On that same subject, I raid Old Navy for updated flannels every September when the cool air rolls back in again.  (If you don’t believe me you can see examples here, here, herehere, here, and here.  Phew!)  While most flannels have some navy in them (at least the ones I gravitate towards!), I loved that this one was exclusively white and navy.  I originally planned on wearing it with my purple pants, but after I ordered these olive ones I knew they would be perfect together.

Cookie Swap Flannel Pop

img_7873 img_7885

Happy Monday guys!  I hope you all had a great weekend.  Today’s outfit is ready for even the most discerning of crowds.  I’m not totally sure why but cookie swaps always seem really stressful to me.  For one, I always worry about my outfit more when I’m going to an all female event (my trendy Thanksgiving dress was planned with all my fabulous female cousins in mind) and for another I have to prepare cookies that are visually appealing and also delicious (or buy a box, shh), not just make myself look presentable.  Luckily this ensemble takes away a lot of the pressure away from getting dressed!  Flannel has that cozy domestic “home for the holidays” vibe, the leather midi skirt is trendy and fashionable, while these classic black pumps make sure all the ladies know to make room for me at the big kids table.

Recovery

IMG_2075

Good morning!  I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas yesterday!  With the glitz and glamour of the holiday season now mostly over, every day life can seem like a bit of a drag.  So- hopefully not in vain- I’m attempting to keep this week chic and exciting with some stylish help from this Old Navy coat!

I totally buy into the belief that a quality winter coat should be an investment piece.  But what about the days when you want to stand out or spice up your every day wardrobe?  Most of the people we encounter during the winter months only see our winter coats, so spicing it up now and then is a must!

Old Navy has an amazing selection of fun and exciting winter coats for a super affordable price, which makes it oh so tempting to grab a bunch and beef up your winter wardrobe!

I’m also crazy addicted to Naked juices.  They make for a great post-Christmas recovery drink when all of the Christmas cookies are making you feel lethargic.   Plus, they taste even better than eggnog. 🙂
