Blush Pleats

IMG_0367IMG_0336IMG_0357

This striped shirt from French Connection is about three years old, and yet I cannot seem to stop wearing it this spring.  I love when I have the chance to re-fall in love with some of my favorite pieces after years of wear.  Stripes are always in fashion and I guess the navy and white combo has been really fitting in to my new repertoire of pinks and patterns alike this season.

We took these pictures outside of the beautiful (and recently renovated) Beverly Public Library.  Libraries are definitely one of my happy places, and reading is one of my fundamental core values.  Anytime I travel, the local library is always at the top of my “To See” list (including the Library of Congress, Huntington Library, and Openbare Bibliotheek Amsterdam).  Seeing libraries receive the proper architectural attention that they deserve just makes my heart sing.

New Hues

As promised, today I’m styling my first pair of glasses from Warby Parker’s Spring Collection!  These frames totally speak for themselves and I love the statement they make while the Oak color can be paired with just about anything, making them extremely versatile.  Sometimes I find my statement making accessories are hard to incorporate into every day wear, but that is definitely not the case with these specs!  I already have approximately 17,621 outfits in my head I want to wear them with.  All of which will undoubtedly vanish at 5 o’clock on Monday morning when I need them, but alas.  You win some, you lose some.

Blush and olive were never colors I wore much of in the past, but I have suddenly found myself embracing their versatility and hoarding them in large amounts.  I especially love them paired together with the tortoise shell print of these glasses.  As someone who gravitates towards black frames all too easily, the subtle pattern adds some fun dimension to an otherwise neutral look.

Gray Days

IMG_1099IMG_1132IMG_1105

I was looking for a jacket to break up all the black in this ensemble (I always fall into the easy red and black combo during the winter) when I found this gray blazer in my closet.  It’s GAP from about three years ago, and it was one of the first quality blazers I ever bought myself (along with a coral blazer from Talbots and a tweed herringbone from Zara).  I think the spring blazer adds just the right amount of light color into the dark wintery vibe.  The details on this J.Crew top are gorgeous, but it was so cold I just couldn’t bring myself to take my blazer off!  For real though, I almost bought it in every color because it is the perfect top for layering in the winter or by itself during the summer!

Jackets are definitely one of my wardrobe must haves.  They take every outfit to the next level, whether it be a blazer elevating your professional look or a leather jacket adding an extra edge to a weekend ensemble.  This blazer from LOFT is my new favorite, because it adds something special to work and weekend looks alike.

It’s been so hard to take outfit pictures over the past week or so, with it being well below freezing all weekend.  Shooting fashion pictures at the office park always lends to strange looks, but when its 16 degrees outside people look like they want to bring me in for a CT Scan.  Here’s hoping for some warmer weather this week!

Thanksgiving 2.0

IMG_9853IMG_9833IMG_9885

Bringing back the perfect November sweater (last seen here) for some last minute Thanksgiving outfit inspiration today!  My style will always take root in preppy New England styles, and this outfit is no exception.  Layering and tights are some of my reliables for problematic late fall dressing, and I absolutely adore this palette for Thanksgiving!

Cinnamon Sweater

IMG_9804 (1)IMG_9787IMG_9782

I am totally obsessed with this cinnamon sweater from J.Crew Factory.  It’s the perfect color for November, especially when paired with other rich hues like this plum or a dark sage.  I happen to love it layered with a reliable chambray, so this week I’m going to be sharing the two ways I styled it for Thanksgiving week!

I knew right away that I had to layer this sweater under this Helene Berman cape I got last year (last seen here).  Capes are great for traveling, since they’re warm, comfortable, and chic all at the same time.  Swap out a pair of boots for some heeled booties and this outfit is ready for even the most discerning grandmother.

Nothing Rhymes With Orange

IMG_3683  IMG_3703 IMG_3704

Although it has been getting significantly warmer up north, we definitely still have a few cold days left before spring comes around in full force.  For these days, I love wearing a bright colored coat like this orange one.  I found it at TJMaxx a few years ago, but I love breaking it out every spring.  It is still practical for those chilly March days, but also adds a nice spring color to brighten up the day (and my mood).  Last weekend dipped back into the 30s, so I had to layer it with this soft oatmeal colored turtleneck to stay warm!  Soon, sundresses.  I’m coming for you soon.

Burgundy Cape

IMG_3356 IMG_3406 IMG_3410

This past week has been almost consistently above freezing, so I’ve taken advantage of the opportunity to re-wear some of my beloved fall staples (like this cape and my fave quilted vest)!  I love love love capes- they appeal to both my fashion side and my geeky side.  As soon as I slip my arms through this cape I feel like I’ve been transported back to a more glamorous decade, and simultaneously like I’m one of my favorite superheroes (I know I know- so nerdy).  But if these two examples say anything, it’s that wearing a cape is always appropriate.  Regardless of the occasion, a cape is always a perfect fit.

Uniform

IMG_2807

I love putting thought and care into my outfits, down to the very last detail.  But there are certain days when the creativity just isn’t flowing for me, or I’m running late, or everything is either dirty or wrinkled.  On those unfortunate days, I always reach for the same reliable outfit and makeup routine.  A pair of boots, skinny jeans, a soft sweater, and a collared shirt never fail me.  I love this blush, camel, and black combination; but I also do this combination with shades of blue frequently.

Comfort Season

IMG_1799

Whoever decided to make something as cozy as a poncho chic is officially my new hero.  My TOMS for Target poncho just came in the mail this past week and it has been my best friend during this chilly and relaxing weekend.  I love layering a collared shirt underneath to keep my outfit polished while feeling like I’m wrapped in a blanket all day long!

Much of the TOMS for Target collection has already sold out, but you can view the full collection here and make sure to check your local Target store to see what they have left!  The collection also makes some amazing gifts, I especially love the throw blanket, candle, and frame for gifts that will delight just about everyone!  Gifts that give back are the best way to spread our good fortune to others this holiday season.  Follow along with my Pinterest board to see gift ideas all season long!
