Lighter Leather

I know I have said ad nauseam how ready I am for spring, but this week I decided I had to take advantage of one more opportunity to wear leather.  I bought this skirt on sale at the end of January, so it didn’t see the full fall/winter season of wear.  Does this mean that everyone saw me wearing it once per week for a month?  Yep.  Do I feel badly about it?  Not even a little bit.

An October Shine

Happy Friday guys!  Just a quick post today because I’m down in Texas with my best friend celebrating our six year friendiversary!  Make sure to follow along on snap (@chummer17) and Instagram!

While cable knits and cashmere begin to dominate the shopping scene, this week’s unseasonable warmth and sunshine had me feeling like spicing up the textures in my wardrobe.  The sheen on this top and the silver oxfords felt like one more embrace of summer’s warmth and sunshine before sweater weather is here to stay.

Easy Like Sunday Morning

IMG_3736IMG_3746

Happy Monday!  Today I’m sharing one of my favorite airy weekend looks.  Whether I’m going to brunch and want a forgiving waistline for when I inevitably eat too much, or strolling through the farmer’s market; a flowy loose skirt like this one is a must for easy weekend activities.

Linen

IMG_2291 IMG_2294

Linen is one of my favorite fabrics for summer.  While a lot of summer dresses can be made in cheap looking and thin fabric, linen is a sturdy fabric that holds up well throughout the day.  Despite its thick texture, it doesn’t cling to your body but dries quickly in an unfortunate case of perspiration.  This linen fit and flare dress from GAP is an absolute dream.  It comes in a variety of colors and patterns and I love a good fit and flare silhouette.

Day to Night Dress Series: Fun and Flirty Edition

Last week was absolutely crazy for me, but I’m happy to be back at it this Monday morning with a new Day to Night Dress episode.  This fun fit & flare is from GAP, and just one of their many dresses that I absolutely adore.  Every year when spring rolls around I always check out the selection of dresses at GAP.  With their fun colors and flattering silhouettes; they make up some of my favorite wardrobe staples.

Since I don’t have to follow a strict dress code during the day, I love adding bright and bold turquoise accessories to contrast with the fiery red dress.  For those of you that may need a bit more professional look, a blazer and some closed toe heels would be a great conservative touch.

Blue Collar

IMG_3712 IMG_3719 IMG_3724 IMG_3781

I am constantly searching for new ways to wear my every day essentials, and this outfit combines five of them!  Chances are you already have most of these items in your closet and can put this together with your own personal twist (I also love it with a solid skirt and textured tights!)

This H&M bag is the perfect work bag!  It can hold so much, and I love the structure that keeps its form no matter how much I throw in it!  My friend actually has it in both black and gray- it’s really that good!

February Finds

Happy Friday! I could definitely get used to this four-day-work-week we’ve had for five consecutive weeks up north, but that doesn’t mean Friday isn’t any more welcome than usual! Especially since this one marks just over a week left of February- finally, spring is around the corner!

In case you missed out on some of the President’s Day sales, there are still plenty to be found around the interwebs this weekend, too!

Land’s End: 25% off Friends and Family with code FORFRIENDS. I’m especially obsessed with this gorgeous cognac perforated purse, this elegant leather bucket bag, and the perfect nautical scarf.

J.Crew: 20% off (or 25% with your J.Crew card!) with code SHOPPINGTIME.  On my wish list are the lemon blazer, bay blue panama hat, and this dreamy eyelet organza dress!

GAP: 30% off everything with code MAJOR.  I love this seersucker dress, barn red skimmer jeans, and Nelson Mandela tee.

Nordstrom: up to 40% off clearance sale items, prices as marked.  You can’t go wrong with this gorgeous silver Kate Spade watch,  vintage burgundy Current/Elliott jeans, or this Kate Spade glitter bug wristlet (I think it would be the perfect gift for one of my little princess-loving cousins!)

Aimee Song shared her Top 10 Instagrams To Follow During Fashion Week (and really, we should all follow them year round).

WhoWhatWear.com gave us Three Hacks for Scratched Sunglasses.

I loved seeing Sarah Vickers and Kiel James Patrick’s fun 19th century shoot for The Accidental Empress.  It definitely inspired me to add the book to my reading list!

Follow me on Pinterest this weekend and get a glimpse at what is inspiring me for spring- and get another follower for yourself too!

Do any of you have any fun plans this weekend?! I’d love to hear about them!

Until next time!

I always dedicate the month of November to Christmas shopping.  I always enjoy taking the time to find everyone on my list a thoughtful gift that I know they will love, instead of scrambling for something last minute.  Shopping early also helps me stay within my budget and shop around for the best price.  Once the Christmas shopping is done, I have the proper time and focus to appreciate the Christmas season without feeling like I lose all of my weekends to shopping at the mall with the masses.

Of course, no matter how hard you try to find a unique and personal gift, there will always be those people on your list who are just impossible to shop for.  For these people, we have the GAP family.  What I love most about GAP brands (Gap, Old Navy, Banana Republic, Piperlime, and Athleta), is you can shop at all of the brands using one shopping cart.  I love that you can hop back and forth between them so easily and only have to check out once!  Even better: they constantly have online deals running AND if you spend over $50 combined (or buy one item from Piperlime!) you get free shipping!  These awesome perks make it easy to shop for everyone you know in virtually one place, using one shopping cart!   Above are my top ten picks for those guys who are hard to shop for, there really is something for everyone.
