Hello everyone, welcome back!  Lately I have been scoping out the fall fashion scene, so I took a look back into my closet to see what items I always wear during autumn months.  Leather and denim are two staples that I can’t imagine going through October without!  Paired together, they make a chic combination that will transition well from cool August days (with sandals) into colder days with a pair of ankle boots!

Shades of Brown

This faux leather jacket from Express is one of my go to’s for casual weekend layering for fall and winter.  My faux leather jackets are definitely one of my fashion must haves (I wear them under parkas during the winter so I have an extra layer on when I’m inside), and I’ve always been a big fan of brown- either as a neutral, or in varying shades by itself.  My sister and I have this exact same jacket and riding boots, and showed up to our brother’s high school football game wearing them and sweaters in this exact latte color- we actually match accidentally pretty often!  If that doesn’t speak to the functionality of this color combo, I don’t know what would!  I love how this jacket can add a touch of edge and glam to even a turtleneck!  As far as turtlenecks go, this one is a definite winner.  I love how it’s still a warm and chunky knit, but is more fitted than most turtlenecks, so it isn’t totally shapeless and unflattering.

Chewie, We’re Home

Unless you have been living under a rock for the past twelve months, you’re probably aware that The Force Awakens comes out this weekend.  I love finding what I call ‘weekend shirts’ that showcase my hobbies and interests while still making a fashion statement- you may recall my white on white Rolling Stones tee or my Captain America tee from my favorite Boston shop– but I have had the hardest time finding a fashionable Star Wars tee over the past few months that still felt like me.  That is, until the ever reliable J.Crew released their Star Wars for J.Crew line– producing my dream combination of chic and nerdy simultaneously.

Another one of my clutch T.J.Maxx finds this season has been this gorgeous Calvin Klein flyaway sweater.  The ribbed sleeves keep it nice and cozy, while the leather panels add a little something extra.  Adding this and a pair of burgundy booties to the gold lettering of the tee keeps this outfit fun and festive, while cozy enough to sit through a two hour movie.

Black and Blue

New England Fall Outfit Photography Inspiration love this blue faux leather jacket for fall black flat chelsea boots for fall concert crossbody bag blue faux leather jacket quilted leather details Black and Blue fall outfit inspiration

Fun fact that you may not know about me: I go to a lot of concerts.  Last year I went to eighteen, and I have three coming up in the next month.  After lots of trial and error, I’ve developed a pretty good idea of what works for concert attire- especially during cold New England nights.

When you have to balance waiting outside in the cold with being suffocated by the body heat of a thousand other people, getting dressed can be a real struggle.  I try to avoid using coat check (unless I actually wore a parka), so a little white tee and a faux leather jacket make for a perfect combination.  This jacket is light enough that I can keep it on for most of the night and then just tie it around my waist easily, and a white tee never fails for any occasion.  I love how stretchy and comfortable these Topshop skinnies are, and a pair of black Chelsea boots are necessary for any concert- both stylish and practical.  These ones are incredibly comfortable and have become my go to shoe for anytime I leave the house lately!

On Trend

Faux leather pencil skirt outfit faux leather skirt for fall leather pencil skirt and collared shirt

This faux leather pencil skirt is actually one I picked up last year at Forever 21, but is still perfectly on trend for this fall.  It joins the ranks of a faux leather mini skirt and pleated faux leather midi skirt that are currently hanging in my closet waiting patiently to be broken out with fall fashions.  The crispness of fall air is finally back in Massachusetts and gives me that ‘back to school’ vibe of getting back into a routine and refocusing my energy.  I had a ton of fun this summer, but after a weekend away recouping I’m ready to get back into a regular posting schedule around here again, and hopefully bring some much needed new changes to the blog as well!
