6 Ingredients for a Perfect Fall Night

Whether it’s the weather or the PSL’s, it seems like everyone I know is in a perpetually good mood now that fall is here.  It’s been a perfect time for me to unwind from a chaotic summer and have a few easy nights at home.  Here’s everything I think you need to have the perfect one.

Face Mask.  In my book, every perfect night starts with a face mask.  In addition to being seasonally appropriate, pumpkin is packed with a plethora of skincare benefits thanks to the AHAs and vitamins.  Essentially, it’s an exfoliant that brightens and smooths out your skin, while fighting sun damage and signs of aging.  Yeah, kind of a big deal.  I’ve been loving the Overtime Mask from Summer Fridays lately, but I also really enjoy the Peter Thomas Roth one that I was able to try in this kit!

Reading Material.    Something about fall always makes me want to reread Harry Potter (B and I just marathoned all the movies over the past couple weeks, so that helped).  I also have been loving the Dublin Murder Squad series, so I’ll probably be diving into Tana French’s latest The Witch Elm this weekend!

Bath Bombs.  As a germaphobe, there is nothing I hate more than the idea of marinating in my own filth.  However, it’s hard to deny the stress benefits of baths.  Lately I’ve been having to force myself to run one every few weeks (even if it means I have to shower first!)  I picked up a few of these bath bombs from Ulta and this Sandalwood Vanilla one just may be my favorite so far.

Mug.  Whether your mug is for the perfect bedtime tea or seasonally appropriate chocolate…you do you.  This one is from Target (I couldn’t find it online) but I also love this one and this one.

Candle.  There’s a seemingly endless variety of autumnal candles in the world.  This year my top choice is this Pumpkin Clove one from Anthropologie.

Playlist.  I may have gone a little overboard with my spooky-pop playlist, since it’s 9 hours long.  But that doesn’t change that it’s perfect for getting in the Halloween spirit.

Tuesday Ten: Creating the Perfect Hygge Moment

January is the perfect time for a cozy and content hygge day.  I love this article from the New Yorker and think it perfectly describes the Danish concept.

  1. The perfect slippers.  These L.L.Bean slippers are largely regarded as just about perfect in New England.
  2. Candles.  White Barn makes my favorite candles.
  3. Play your most relaxing playlist.  I love this classic jazz one from Helena!
  4. Apply a face mask.  This HydraClay Detox Mask epitomizes Hygge!
  5. Go for a walk.  Even when it’s cold, I always try to go walking outside.  I really believe there is no replacement for fresh air, even if it’s hurting your face.  I love these Sorel boots for when there’s some snow or slush on the ground!
  6. Read a book.  The perfect hygge moment in my eyes involves a physical book and zero blue light.  Currently on my list is Elizabeth Gilbert’s The Signature of All Things.  I love ‘Big Magic‘, but I have never read one of her novels, so I am really excited to jump into this one.
  7. Make a hot cup of tea.  There are so many different types of tea, but I really want to try this detox tea from David’s.
  8. Get cozy under a warm blanket.  These blankets from Target are so soft and delightful, I love that they come in large sizes so your whole body is covered.
  9. Make some chili for dinner.  What’s better than homemade chili on a cold winter night?  I have been dying to try this white chicken recipe!
  10. Bake something.  I am always pinning tasty treats over on my Pinterest page, and this chocolate cake is my most recent addition!

What do you need for a perfect hygge moment?  Let me know in the comment section!  Have a wonderful day!

Happy Friday everyone!  I can’t believe it’s already the 22nd!  The next week for me is going to be so busy but so full and I can’t wait to spend some quality time relaxing with all of my families!  As I do every year, I’m going to take next week off from blogging.  I love coming back refreshed in the New Year, and am looking forward to taking advantage of that time to reconnect with some of my favorite people.  Make sure to follow along on Instagram, though!

This cozy sweater from Old Navy was a bit of an impulse buy for me, since I have been loving long cardigans so much these past few months.  I grabbed it straight out of the shipping box on a late fall day for a drive to the ocean with B (seen in this Instagram), and that day I completely fell in love with it.  I paired it with my Converse for some beach time, and lately I’ve been wearing it while working from home at least once per week.  For Christmastide, I knew I would want to dress it up a bit, so I paired it with these fantastic leopard booties.  I love how they make the outfit look intentional and put together, while I get to stay comfortable in this sweater!

Christmas Carols

Hi everyone, welcome back!  I love this casual outfit for the laid back holiday activities, whether they be caroling (I hope some places still do that!) or an easy at home gathering. I bought this Old Navy sweater in orange back in the fall (see it here) and I loved it so much that I went back for this Christmas hue!  These earmuffs are going to be perfect for keeping my ears warm without giving me hat hair!

Cozy

Manhattan may have been underwhelmed by Juno, but most of Massachusetts saw almost (or more than) two feet yesterday!  The driving ban made sure I stayed inside all day, which had me craving some new warm and cozy wardrobe additions!  So today I’m sharing with you the fruits of my labor (aka obsessive online shopping) and showing you some of my favorite cozy finds!

I have such a soft spot for sweaters, they are definitely my go to comfort piece!  This year I’ve been loving the cape trend too!  They are so easy to dress up and look chic in, but genuinely feel like you are wearing a blanket!

I love Kimberly’s chic black and grey look with her Topshop poncho (now on sale for $30!)  My TOMS + Target one has sold out, but you can get some styling ideas over at this post!

Comfort Season

IMG_1799

Whoever decided to make something as cozy as a poncho chic is officially my new hero.  My TOMS for Target poncho just came in the mail this past week and it has been my best friend during this chilly and relaxing weekend.  I love layering a collared shirt underneath to keep my outfit polished while feeling like I’m wrapped in a blanket all day long!

Much of the TOMS for Target collection has already sold out, but you can view the full collection here and make sure to check your local Target store to see what they have left!  The collection also makes some amazing gifts, I especially love the throw blanket, candle, and frame for gifts that will delight just about everyone!  Gifts that give back are the best way to spread our good fortune to others this holiday season.  Follow along with my Pinterest board to see gift ideas all season long!
