Earth Tones

Coming at you with another casual look today.  Spring always has me eager to lose the layers, while spending as much time outside as possible.  The solution to this is usually a field jacket, scarf, and ankle pants (which are my favorite pants anyway-any excuse to show off the shoes!) like I wore here.

These cognac leather TOMS should be at the top of everyone’s spring wish list.  They’re so incredibly comfortable but have more of a luxe feel than the average pair of TOMS.  I wear them so much I want to snatch up another pair while they’re still available because I don’t foresee a day I’ll ever want to stop wearing them.

Weekend Wear

IMG_9423IMG_9404IMG_9420IMG_9418IMG_9425

Today’s outfit is inspired directly by my Saturday routine.  On the average Saturday, I like to stick to my morning routine as closely as possible.  I wake up early and get to the gym right when they open, enjoy a longer workout, and then shower and get ready for my errand routine.  This past Saturday I was craving comfort even more than usual, as my feet were killing me after getting back outside training for my upcoming race and walking around Boston in heels a bit too much, definitely not my brightest moment.  I try to look somewhat presentable on my weekend errand runs because I know I’ll wind up seeing someone I know, or someone I want to know, and wearing something as simple as jeans instead of yoga pants usually makes all the difference in my eyes.

My checklist this weekend included a warm sweater so I didn’t have to carry around a coat with me and comfortable shoes for the aforementioned unhappy feet.  After I crossed those two off the list I honestly just looked for something fun to brighten up the outfit, which wound up being this necklace I got at The Limited last year.  I’ve never understood why people choose to go to the grocery store in sweat or yoga pants when it takes just as much effort to put on jeans in the morning, and that simple change can make a world of difference.  Throwing on a bright necklace or scarf really just adds to the image of effort, while still being really comfortable.  I’ll have no problems walking around and seeing people I know without mascara on and wearing street sneakers like I am here as long as I have jeans on, but if I went to Target in my gym clothes I’d wind up being so embarrassed I’d run through the store as fast as possible and forget half the things I needed.  Not like that’s ever happened before. or anything…

New Hues

IMG_1203IMG_1197

As promised, today I’m styling my first pair of glasses from Warby Parker’s Spring Collection!  These frames totally speak for themselves and I love the statement they make while the Oak color can be paired with just about anything, making them extremely versatile.  Sometimes I find my statement making accessories are hard to incorporate into every day wear, but that is definitely not the case with these specs!  I already have approximately 17,621 outfits in my head I want to wear them with.  All of which will undoubtedly vanish at 5 o’clock on Monday morning when I need them, but alas.  You win some, you lose some.

Blush and olive were never colors I wore much of in the past, but I have suddenly found myself embracing their versatility and hoarding them in large amounts.  I especially love them paired together with the tortoise shell print of these glasses.  As someone who gravitates towards black frames all too easily, the subtle pattern adds some fun dimension to an otherwise neutral look.

Burgundy Skirt: Round Two

This burgundy skirt has been on repeat with this warm weather lately!  The color absolutely screams ‘fall’, but I get to hold onto precious skirt days for a little while longer!  I love this vibrant blue top paired with the dark hued skirt, especially while colors in New England are out in full force! It was actually a bright blue sky situated next to some turning leaves that inspired me to pair these two colors together.  I don’t know how anyone can spend time in New England during the fall and not feel inspired and in love with the beauty of nature!Burgundy Skirt | The Sol Compass Blue and Burgundy on The Sol Compass fresh color combinations for fall on The Sol Compass love this color combo on The Sol Compass Burgundy skirt for fall on The Sol Compass Burgundy and Blue on The Sol Compass
