Festive Flair

IMG_5430IMG_5473IMG_5421IMG_5441IMG_5423IMG_5481

Hey everyone, happy Monday!  I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving Weekend!  In case you missed it, I launched the first set of my gift guides on Saturday, and also wrote about the perfect holiday gift I found for B here!

Today, since the holiday season is in full swing, I wanted to incorporate small amounts of festive flair without feeling overwhelmed by it (since I can hardly believe November is almost over!)  The bright green of the sweater and the bow detail on the back make it perfect for a slow embrace of the Christmas spirit!

Casual Thanksgiving Outfit

Hello everyone, welcome back!  Today I’m sharing a little Thanksgiving outfit inspiration.  If you have a more casual gathering (or a Friendsgiving!), a simple sweater and colored pants make a nice and easy ensemble, with a fun pair of leopard booties making the statement.

Halloween Inspired Date Night Outfit

IMG_4215IMG_4227IMG_4311IMG_4291

Happy Friday my friends!  I can’t believe it’s already October 20th!  I find that October is always a super busy month, so B and I had to make sure we fit some one on one date time in between all of the scheduled activities.  My birthday is the day before Halloween and I have always felt drawn to the October color palette as a result.  During the rest of the year I don’t usually pair orange with black, but if there were ever a perfect time to do it it’s ten days before Halloween!

Tropical Textures

Welcome back, loves!  I hope you all had a great weekend.  I’m so excited that the weather is finally consistently warm out that I’ve been celebrating the only way I know how – shopping for new clothes to wear on patios and rooftops, clearly.

This beautiful Banana Republic skirt instantly caught my eye.  I love the length, the pleats, the pattern, and the colors.  I chose to pair it first with a lace top, to add some nice textures to mix up my look.  To make it more work appropriate, just add a pair of closed toe heels and a navy blazer!

Primary

Welcome back everyone!  I hope you all had a great week and an exciting weekend ahead.  I’ve been dying to put together an outfit of entirely primary colors for I don’t even know how long, so I was thrilled when this one came together the way I hoped it would.  But then again, my legs are still winter white and I ate Chick-Fil-A before shooting so… Can’t win ’em all, I guess.

Be Mine

img_9141img_9153img_9132

Welcome back my friends!  I hope you all had a great weekend.  Today I’m sharing one more Valentine’s Day look for you all.  As you can tell I’m not a huge fan of going all out with my outfit and I love incorporating black in to tone it down (like I did in this post on Friday).  This dress is a new arrival from Banana Republic’s spring collection and I know it will look beautiful in a few months by itself in warmer weather!

Shoutout to Mom

img_8343img_8367

This outfit is what I like to call “channelling my mother 101”.  When I was younger my mom always wore red and black together and she always looked put together, but red and black was always one of her go to color combinations.  I vividly remember a friend’s mom picking me up from my house one day while my mom was playing basketball in the driveway with my younger brother.  She was rocking red jeans and a leather jacket and still managing to run after my Energizer Bunny of a brother.  The aforementioned friend’s mom told me that my mom always looked stylish no matter what she was doing, and I promptly saved this story in my head right next to the time she wouldn’t let me wear pajamas to school.

When I saw this bright red sweater at Banana Republic, I instantly fell in love with it.  With no sparkles or embellishments, it transitions well past the holiday season, through Valentine’s Day and even beyond.  The first time I went to wear it, I opened my denim drawer and was instantly drawn to classic black skinny jeans.  Finally, I slid my feet into these booties, which have a perfect pointy toe to add some style to a monochrome look.  When I looked at the finished product I couldn’t help but chuckle because I looked exactly like my mother.

Black & Blush

img_8518img_8570img_8561

You may recognize this jacket as being eerily similar to one I’ve worn here and here.  Well, I have to admit, this coat is that old favorite’s younger sister.  I bought the navy one two years ago from Old Navy and I love it to death.  When I spotted this black one they came out with this year, I knew I needed to add it into my collection as well.  I love how the coat, toggles, and loops are all black; making a really sleek look.  The aforementioned navy coat has wooden toggles and rope details, making for a more nautical look.  You can see why I needed both of them, especially at such a reasonable price point!

Cookie Swap Flannel Pop

img_7873 img_7885

Happy Monday guys!  I hope you all had a great weekend.  Today’s outfit is ready for even the most discerning of crowds.  I’m not totally sure why but cookie swaps always seem really stressful to me.  For one, I always worry about my outfit more when I’m going to an all female event (my trendy Thanksgiving dress was planned with all my fabulous female cousins in mind) and for another I have to prepare cookies that are visually appealing and also delicious (or buy a box, shh), not just make myself look presentable.  Luckily this ensemble takes away a lot of the pressure away from getting dressed!  Flannel has that cozy domestic “home for the holidays” vibe, the leather midi skirt is trendy and fashionable, while these classic black pumps make sure all the ladies know to make room for me at the big kids table.

An October Shine

img_6429 img_6384

Happy Friday guys!  Just a quick post today because I’m down in Texas with my best friend celebrating our six year friendiversary!  Make sure to follow along on snap (@chummer17) and Instagram!

While cable knits and cashmere begin to dominate the shopping scene, this week’s unseasonable warmth and sunshine had me feeling like spicing up the textures in my wardrobe.  The sheen on this top and the silver oxfords felt like one more embrace of summer’s warmth and sunshine before sweater weather is here to stay.
