Summer Shoe Guide

Happy Hump Day, friends!  Today I’m sharing some of my favorite shoe finds for the summer months.  Most of these are under $50, but they are all under $75, so there is something for everyone to pick from!  Whether you’re looking for a wedding guest sandal, a beach shoe, or something comfy to explore in; just keep reading to find the best affordable shoes for summer!

Summer Shoe Guide.png

One: Merona Low Block Heel Pumps – $27.99 – I actually featured these on my snapchat (@chummer17) a few months ago, because they are an amazing dupe for the Steve Madden pair that is more than double the price!  The low block heel is so on trend for 2017, and with five colors to choose from these definitely will not let you down.

Two: Soludos Stripe Espadrille Loafer – $54.95 – The stripes may scream “Americana”, but I have full confidence these striped kicks will get their money’s worth all summer long.  The red and blue is subtle enough that they transcend holidays into full blown summer approval.

Three: Keds Espadrille Tennis Shoes – $55 – These Keds are the stuff beachy dreams are made of.  I love the cream canvas tennis shoe upper, atop the espadrille sole.  I can just imagine these getting tons of wear down the Cape this summer, from bike rides to ice cream trips!

Four: Splendid Jakey Ankle Strap Sandal – $63.96 – These blush heels are absolutely to die for.  They’re currently 50% off, and look a lot like my LC Lauren Conrad heels I wear nonstop (last seen here and here).  I wear my similar pair with everything, so I would definitely recommend trying these out!

Five: Sperry Perforated Sneaker – $74.95 – I have these shoes in orange from two years ago and I am totally obsessed with them.  This year they come in six colors that are perfectly on trend for 2017.  They are cute and casual, plus super easy to slip in and out of!

Six: Who What Wear Exotic Print Slide Sandals – $27.99 – I am loving the slide trend that has been everywhere this year.  The luxe print on these makes them look way more expensive than they actually are, plus they would look great with everything from a dinner dress to denim cutoffs!

Seven: Who What Wear Double Band Block Heel Slide Sandals – $32.99 – I have been trying to decide whether to pull the trigger on these for MONTHS now!  They come in five different colors, which are equally stunning.

Eight: Forever 21 Tasseled Faux Leather Heels – $32.90 – I can be a bit hesitant about the tassel trend, because a lot of times it feels a little forced, juvenile, or not quite like me.  These sandals, however, have completely changed my mind.  I love the all nude look, and the short block heel is perfectly elegant and on trend.

Nine: Superga Cotu Sneakers – $64.95 – My mom is a die-hard Superga lover.  I’m pretty sure she was wearing them before Kate Middleton and Emma Watson, so she is pretty much fashion #goals.  She swears by their comfort, the cut, and the cute all white looks good with anything.

Ten: H&M Sneakers – $24.99 – Millennial Pink lovers rejoice – these shoes were pretty much made for you.  I love the detailing to the pink sole, and the fact that they are under $25 really just sweetens the deal.

Blush and Blue

Happy Hump Day my loves!  This spring I have been trying to incorporate blush into my outfits wherever I can.  These flats have been the perfect go-to pair no matter what I’m wearing, so I teamed them up with this old Treasure&Bond jacket, anchored in the cobalt of this sheath dress!

Outfit Details – Dress: Banana Republic Factory Store | Jacket: Treasure&Bond (old, similar here and here) | Flats: Kelly & Katie | Sunglasses: Elizabeth and James | Earrings: Banana Republic (old, similar here) | Necklace: Nadri (old, similar here) | Watch: Fossil | Ring: BaubleBar | Lipstick: Urban Decay ‘Wrong Number’ | Lipgloss: Lorac ‘Pastry Chef

Thanks for reading!  Hope you all have a great day!

Hi guys!

I can’t believe it’s March already! Although March doesn’t really mean much here in Massachusetts, because yesterday it was 15 degrees. But we still get some warm days here and there and so there is still some hope for spring! Tights, a skirt/dress and boots are my go-to outfit in the winter weather.

I found this dress at Primark in the Burlington Mall! I got it marked down for guess how much– only $5!! I’m going to be honest and say that Primark’s products are not the best quality, but they are inexpensive and they are really good for when you want to try some of the more trendy products!  And going to their stores is a really fun experience, there are a lot of options and it’s fun to walk around and try different styles! They also have a home section, which has a lot of cute things that I’ve put in my room and at my desk!

Thanks for reading everyone! It’s fun when I get to get all glammed up and go out for a little photo shoot! I’m so glad Caitlin lets me appear as a guest every once in a while on her blog!

As usual, Blair had my favorite fashion post of the week.

The footwear brand that launched nude shoes for every skin tone.

I’m excited about these new liquid lipsticks from one of my go to makeup brands.

I am dying to try these DIY face wipes to combat those post workout breakouts.

I love Who What Wear’s 30 Day Wardrobe Challenges, and this year’s winter edition is no exception.

This article about Jessica Jones is a great description of how ‘human’ is the most important aspect of any superhuman.

As an avid user of Sara Happ’s The Lip Scrub, I am beyond excited to try this $10 one.

I loved Liz’s beautiful Sundance look.

As a girl on the job hunt, I love this article about how to create a killer LinkedIn profile.

Dying to pull the trigger on these pretty velvet pumps.

My sister always shares the Harvard Business Review with us, and this article about mindfulness sums up my morning meditation journey.  Now I want to incorporate not checking my email first thing every morning.

2017 Travel Bucket List

(photo by me, first published in this post)
2016 was a pretty solid travel year for me. The year was filled with weekends in my favorite New England cities, visiting my family in New York City and going back again for my beloved New Yorker festival; but it also contained a lot of new experiences.

My first new trip of the year was to our nation’s capital in March to see the cherry blossoms. I had only spent one day in Washington D.C. before, so I loved the opportunity to embrace the food, architecture, and history of the city at such a beautiful time of year. My sister and I took a summer road trip to Saratoga Springs and spent some time at The Great Sacandaga Lake. I went to Texas for the first time with my best friend as we spent five days in Austin, then my mom and I went down to Philly to see my favorite songwriter (and also the Liberty Bell). At last I ended the year in front of Cinderella’s Castle in Walt Disney World with my four best friends in the entire world.

I feel so lucky to have been able to travel to all the places I have been. When I was younger, my dad was always traveling for work and coming back from around the globe with the most amazing stories. A postcard from Neuschwanstein, a Turkish eye, and Swiss chocolate stand out in my memory as triggers of places I wanted to see, cultures I was craving experience in, and food around the world I had to try. My parents blessed us with many vacations throughout our lifetime as well, taking us from the beaches of Hawaii to the museums of London, making sure we paid attention to the history lessons and absorbed the culture existing around us.

My early 20s were something of a mess as I stumbled my way through mistakes and learning what I wanted and what I needed to do. What I’m most grateful for during this time was the travel experiences I was fortunate enough to have. The time I spent in Europe, California, and Bermuda sticks out to me as places where I was staggeringly aware of myself and what I wanted, and that self-awareness gave me a lot of the confident direction I have today.

I know that in 2017, traveling will continue to be important to me. While I never know how many opportunities I will have, these are some of the feasible places I hope I’ll be able to make it to!

Pacific North West

Seattle and Portland have been very high on my list for quite a while now. If I have the opportunity to travel to a west coast place of my choice this year, I highly suspect it will be here. Everything from the cities to the mountains I am dying to explore.

image

Big Sur

A road trip up (or down) Big Sur is one of those things I just know I have to do.  Whenever the opportunity arises, I will definitely say yes to it.

image

Toronto

It’s been several years since I made it over the border and into Canada, but I have never made it to Toronto. Last year my mom was in Toronto with a group of friends and she told me I would absolutely love it. Sounds like a good enough reason to me!

image

Havana

Now that JetBlue is flying to Cuba and US Cuban relations are better than ever, Havana has been promptly bumped to the top of my travel list. This year would be ideal, before the flocks of tourists force the country to adapt and change some of its culture and purity to appease the masses. I would love to go experience the arts and culture of a place that has for so long been untrodden by tourism. And also the cars. Definitely the cars.

image

My ultimate travel bucket list has a lot more far fetched locations on it, but at this time in my life I know that shorter trips to more accessible locations is much more feasible and will also bring a maximum amount of joy into my life.

Merry Christmas

IMG_7956.jpg

Merry Christmas Eve my friends!  I hope you all have a wonderful weekend with your loved ones.  Here’s a picture with my two best friends in the entire world who I am so thankful for this year and every year.

As I did last year, I’ll be taking the rest of 2016 off from blogging.  I’ve done over 30 posts the past two months, between the holidays and traveling I have been bursting with content to share with you all and it has brought me so much joy to share these happy times with you.  However, I think it’s important to reflect on ourselves as the year comes to a close and take a break from all of the craziness that December can bring.  I hope to come back to you all fresh eyes in 2017 ready to bring the best content I can create with renewed energy and creativity.

I will also be spending this coming week in Florida with my family at the happiest place on earth.  I hope you will all follow along with us on Instagram as we share the remarkably aesthetic moments! 😉

Check back on January 4th for a new blog post!  See you all on the ‘gram!

Merry Christmas, x’s and o’s, and the Happiest of New Years my friends.

Eternally yours,

Caitlin
