I absolutely love the process of getting dressed in the morning. Pairing items that that create a cohesive look or mixing different types with a coveted juxtaposition alike give me a tremendous amount of joy every week. Creating outfits is one of my favorite activities (and a fundamental propellant behind this blog).
However, I’d be lying if I said there weren’t some days when getting dressed made me want to pull all of my hair out. Sometimes I’m in a rush, others the creativity just isn’t there, and sometimes I swear I have “absolutely nothing to wear” (which couldn’t be further from the truth).
On these days, black is my savior. Does black ever not look chic? I hardly ever go the all-black route. In the winter months, this means lots of black and red combos. When the weather starts to turn a bit warmer though, it means incorporating bright whites into ensembles to add some much needed contrast and positive vibes.
I’ve mentioned that my dad is a man of distinguished taste. Any time he gives me the stamp of approval I know I’ve found a winning item. You’ll never catch my dad wearing what everyone else is wearing, and the clothes and shoes he likes are almost exclusively statement pieces. When he gave me the coveted stamp for these Topshop espadrilles (and my favorite TOMS) I was elated-what’s better than a stylish pair of flat shoes that are easy to walk around in?! As if I needed another excuse to wear these all spring long…
